Unter dem Motto „Nous sommes la nature qui se défend!“ (Wir sind die Natur, die sich selbst verteidigt!) ist in Westfrankreich mit der Zone à Défendre (ZAD) aus dem Widerstand gegen einen Großflughafen das größte Commoning-Experiment Europas entstanden. In New York hängen Aktivist*innen Schilder mit dem Aufruf “This is your land!“ an die Zäune von Brachflächen. Gemeingüter bedeuten, Flächen dem Markt zu entziehen, die Rechte marginalisierter Gruppen ebenso wie die Rechte der Natur zu respektieren und den Boden nicht länger auszubeuten, weder zur Extraktion noch zur Spekulation oder als Anlage. Müssten angesichts der längst überschrittenen Grenzen des Wachstums die Städte nicht Vorreiter für eine notwendige sozial-ökologische Transformation sein? Baustellenschilder wie „Berlin baut für die Wachsende Stadt“ deuten eher auf das Gegenteil hin: ein Mehr an Beton, Versiegelung, Verkehr, Ressourcen- und Landverbrauch. Die Auswirkungen  auf  kommende Generationen, ländliche Räume und die Biosphäre bleiben ausgeblendet.

Commons as an alternative to the growth paradigm: democratic, socially and ecologically just. Common Grounds e. V. invites to a discussion with Marco Clausen of the Prinzessinnengarten, the activists Isabelle Freieaux and John Jordan (ZAD) and the New Yorker Paula Z. Segal, founder of 596 Acres.

Under the motto "Nous sommes la nature qui se défend!" (We are nature defending itself!) in Western France, the Zone à Défendre ( ZAD) has become Europe's largest commoning experiment as a result of resistance to a major airport. In New York, activists hang signs calling "This is your land!" on the fences of fallow land. Commons mean withdrawing land from the market, respecting the rights of marginalised groups as well as the rights of nature and no longer exploiting the land for extraction, speculation or investment. In view of the long since exceeded limits of growth, shouldn't cities be pioneers for a necessary social-ecological transformation? Construction site signs such as "Berlin is building for the Growing City" rather point to the opposite: more concrete, sealing, traffic, resource and land consumption. The effects on future generations, rural areas and the biosphere are ignored.
