KREISE ZIEHEN 2 ist Teil einer Ausstellungsreihe in Hellersdorf. Künstler*innen des langjährigen Projektes IDEE 01239 in der Großwohnsiedlung Dresden-Prohlis präsentieren ihre dort realisierten Arbeiten sowie der französische Soziologe Renaud Epstein seine Sammlung über Bildstrategien zu Großsiedlungen.

Stadtteilforum IDEE 01239 e. V.
In der am Stadtrand gelegenen Großwohnsiedlung Dresden-Prohlis gründeten in einem ehemaligen Getränkeladen Bürger*innen 2007 zusammen mit Künstler*innen den Verein Stadtteilforum IDEE 01239. Sie richteten dort eine informelle Arbeitsstätte ein: mit Artist-in-Residencies, Ausstellungen, Diskussionsveranstaltungen sowie Workshops und führten Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum, in Schulen und in Wohnhäusern durch. Für die Anwohner*innen des Plattenbauviertels war der Austausch mit internationalen Künstler*innen eine notwendige Möglichkeit den festgefahrenen, „inselhaften“ Frust vor Ort zu durchbrechen, neue Impulse von außen zu erhalten und mit neuen Zuhörer*innen Allianzen in der Stadt aber auch im Ausland zu bilden.

Das Projekt IDEE 01239 und seine Beschäftigung mit der Produktion von Bildern aus der Peripherie wird durch die Arbeiten der beteiligten Künstler*innen wahrnehmbar und kann auf die Gegenwart vor Ort hin abgeglichen werden.

@renaud_epstein: Renaud Epstein Der in Paris lebende Soziologe Renaud Epstein besitzt ein schier unerschöpfliches Archiv an historischen Postkarten-Ansichten französischer Großsiedlungen am Stadtrand, allgemein unter dem Sammelbegriff „Banlieue“ bekannt. Unter seinem Twitter-Namen @renaud_epstein sendet er Tag um Tag eines dieser Schätze in alle Welt. „Mit der Zirkulation dieser Bilder in den sozialen Netzwerken in dem Moment, in dem man sie aus dem urbanen Raum physisch ausradieren will, soll vor allem eine Erinnerungsarbeit geleistet werden und die Einführung einer historischen Perspektive in die ständig wiederkehrenden Debatten über Quartiere, die man oft – zu Unrecht – als ‚Ghettos’ präsentiert.“  (Renaud Epstein)

In der station urbaner kulturen werden Epsteins gesammelten Schätze erstmals ausgestellt und mit ihm gemeinsam eingeordnet.

Am Tag der Ausstellungseröffnung findet ab 15:00 Uhr eine Diskussion zur Entwicklung von Großsiedlungen statt: Neues Hellersdorf, Acts of Citizenship.

DRAWING CIRCLES 2 is part of an exhibition series in Hellersdorf. Artists of the long-standing project IDEE 01239 in the large housing estate Dresden-Prohlis present their work, and French sociologist Renaud Epstein shows his collection on image strategies for large housing estates.

Stadtteilforum IDEE 01239 e.V. In 2007, citizens and artists founded the association Stadtteilforum IDEE 01239 e.V. in the Dresden-Prohlis housing estate on the outskirts of the city in a former drinks store. They set up an informal workplace with Artist-in-Residencies, exhibitions, discussion events and workshops, and carried out interventions in public spaces, schools and residential buildings. For the residents of the „prefab“ housing district (Plattenbauviertel), the exchange with international artists proved to be a necessary opportunity to break out of the deadlocked, "islandlike" frustration on site, to receive new impulses from outside and to form alliances with new audiences in the city as well as abroad.

The project IDEE 01239 and its preoccupation with the production of images from the periphery becomes perceptible through the works of the participating artists and can be compared to the realities on site.

@renaud_epstein: Renaud Epstein Sociologist Renaud Epstein, who lives in Paris, owns an inexhaustible archive of historical postcards of large French settlements on the outskirts of the city, generally known as "Banlieue". Day by day he sends one of these treasures all over the world from his Twitter profile @renaud_epstein. "The circulation of these images in social networks at a time when they are to be physically erased from urban space is above all a work of remembrance and the introduction of a historical perspective into a constantly recurring debate on quarters, which are often - wrongly - presented as 'ghettos'. At station urbaner kulturen, for the first time these collected treasures will be exhibited and – together with Epstein – classified. The exhibition is an event of the nGbK - Neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst, initiative urbane kulturen.

On the opening day of the exhibition, a discussion on the development of large housing estates will take place from 3 PM onwards: Neues Hellersdorf, Acts of Citizenship.
