„Meine Mutter könnte niemals in Hellersdorf leben“, sagt ein Mieter am “Kotti” -– Kotti & Co hat eine Studie zum Thema Mieter*innen-Mitbestimmung am Kottbusser Tor durchgeführt. Wie (Re-) Kommunalisierung, sinkende Mieten und Mitbestimmung zusammenhängen, wird in einem Gespräch zwischen Kotti & Co und in gemeinsamer Diskussion mit dem Publikum thematisiert.

„Die Miete ist zu hoch - kauft unsere Häuser zurück!“ ist seit 2011 eine der Kernforderungen von Kotti & Co und meint den Rückkauf, also die Rekommunalisierung, des privaten Sozialen Wohnungsbaus am Kottbusser Tor durch das Land Berlin. Gleichzeitig ist klar, dass der Rückkauf der Wohnungen am „Kotti“ alleine nicht reichen wird, um hier dauerhaft bezahlbare Mieten gewährleisten zu können! Wir, die Mieter*innen, müssen unsere Interessen selber vertreten. Das geht nur durch Mitbestimmung!

Wie muss Mitbestimmung von Mieter*innen aussehen, die jenseits voraussetzungsvoller Selbstverwaltungsmodelle und neoliberaler Mitbestimmungsangebote funktioniert, die letztendlich nicht nur Mit-, sondern Bestimmung ist? Um diese Fragen zu beantworten und mehr über die Vorstellungen und Ressourcen aller Mieter*innen am Kottbusser Tor hinsichtlich einer möglichen Mitbestimmung oder gar Selbstverwaltung zu erfahren, hat Kotti & Co zwischen Januar und Juni 2018 eine Studie durchgeführt.

In der Veranstaltung „Wie wollen wir morgen wohnen?“ stellt Kotti & Co die zentralen Ergebnisse dieser Studie vor, erzählt wie es überhaupt so weit kam und diskutiert, wie Mitbestimmung, (Re-) Kommunalisierung und sinkende Mieten zusammenhängen. Gemeinsam mit dem Publikum soll überlegt werden, wie (Re-) Kommunalisierung gelingen kann und wie wir in der Zukunft dafür sorgen, dass ohne unsere Zustimmung gar nichts mehr geht!

A study and a conversation about high rents and self-administration at Kottbusser Tor

"My mother could never live in Hellersdorf", says a tenant at "Kotti" -- Kotti & Co has conducted a study on the subject of tenant co-determination at Kottbusser Tor. How (re-)municipalisation, falling rents and co-determination are connected is the subject of a conversation between Kotti & Co and a joint discussion with the audience.

"The rent is too high - buy back our houses" has been one of the core demands of Kotti & Co since 2011 and means the repurchase, i.e. the re-municipalisation, of private social housing construction at Kottbusser Tor by the state of Berlin. At the same time, it is clear that the repurchase of the apartments at "Kotti" alone will not be enough to guarantee affordable rents in the long term! We, the tenants, must represent our interests ourselves. This is only possible through co-determination!
What must the co-determination of tenants look like that functions beyond preconditioned models of self-government and neoliberal co-determination offerings, which ultimately is not just co-determination, but determination? Kotti & Co conducted a study between January and June 2018 to answer these questions and to learn more about the ideas and resources of all tenants at Kottbusser Tor regarding possible co-determination or even self-management.

In the event "How do we want to live tomorrow?" Kotti & Co presents the central results of this study, tells how things got that far and discusses how co-determination, (re-)communalisation and falling rents are connected. Together with the audience, we will consider how (re-)communalisation can succeed and how we can ensure in the future that nothing will work without our consent!
